Only functional storage is currently used by the archive. We do not currently offer optional advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no optional-cookie toggle to switch off. You can manage stored information in your browser.
1. Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small values saved by your browser and sent back to a website. Local storage keeps settings on your device between visits; session storage generally lasts for the current tab or session. These technologies support account sessions, security and features you request. They are not a separate public copy of your family archive.
2. What the archive uses
- Sign-in and security cookies: WordPress cookies, including names beginning with
wordpress_logged_in_,wordpress_sec_orwordpress_, keep you authenticated.wordpress_test_cookiechecks cookie support. Session length depends on the sign-in flow and whether you select “Remember me.” - Optional Google sign-in: where enabled, the
fa_google_browsersession cookie helps bind a sign-in attempt to your browser and prevent misuse. - Appearance: local storage such as
family-archive-appearanceremembers light, dark or system appearance. Other requested tool preferences may be stored locally. - Navigation and coordination: session storage can remember in-session archive navigation; local storage can coordinate account notifications between tabs. These values support the interface rather than advertising profiles.
Session values expire with the relevant session. Persistent login cookies follow their configured expiration; local settings can remain until replaced or deleted in your browser. Names may include a site-specific suffix. We use this storage for functional purposes under the applicable legal rules for requested services.
3. Outside services
When you choose a feature such as Google sign-in, hosted Stripe checkout, external maps or an outside community link, that provider may receive request information and use its own cookies or similar technology. Those services have their own privacy and cookie notices. A link to a provider does not itself authorize us to read that provider’s cookies.
The current archive has no optional advertising or analytics-cookie categories to enable. If we introduce optional tracking, we will describe it and provide the choices and prior consent required by applicable law before it operates.
4. Manage your settings
Open your browser’s privacy or site-data settings to review, block or delete cookies and storage for thefamilyarchive.app. Your browser’s help explains the exact steps. You can also use a separate browser profile or private browsing session, subject to that browser’s behavior.
Deleting sign-in cookies signs you out. Blocking functional cookies can prevent sign-in, payment or security flows from working. Deleting local storage resets device preferences; it does not delete your account or server-side family records. To request deletion of personal information, use Your Privacy Choices.
